Wow, what an amazing night!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the night. It just captures the moment for me. In the excitement of the night I completely forgot to take pictures. Thankfully Thebes did. He took some great pics that I’ll be posting soon.

The opening reception was amazing and we had quite the crowd. Thank you to everyone who came!

Beyond The Fringe artist: Violette Alby

Violette Alby will also be in the Beyond The Fringe. The first two pieces will be in the show.

Violette says “Alby considers her work as a fiber artist and her work as a recycling activist, as ‘interwoven.’ Historically, quilting has been an exercise in recycling, and through her quilts, Alby tries to connect with those primary functions of quilting – taking what is no longer useful and recreating it for a new purpose. Alby hopes that through the visibility of her work and the work of others, i.e. “Beyond the Fringe,” “Artes de Descartes,” and “The Glam Trash Fashion Show,” – to name a few local group shows whose common thread is recycling – we may succeed in changing our perceptions of functionality and never throwing away another piece of fiber.”
