Merce says “My inspirations and translations revolve around chaos theory, higher mathematics and geometry, vortex energy, symbols that invoke womens’ power and aspects, and life/death imagery. My personal experiences are my subject matter. I create what I have to so I can process my experience, and I do so by being mindful of the series of actions, the actual layering of the feltmaking process. I am allowing the work to have a life of its own, following its lead, going with the suggestions of the moment, loosening control. This idea has manifested in completely different ways in each piece. The doing, the paying attention, leads me into an unplanned order, a natural unfolding, a suspension of disbelief.”

Wool is itchy!
To Robert Cafazzo.
Not all wools are itchy! There are many fine micron wools that are wearable next to the skin. If you need more information, look up Merino or Cormo wool on Google.
The pieces that Merce makes are not intended to be worn, they’re wall hangings or floor coverings. They are made from coarser micron wools and would make you itch if you rubbed them on your skin.
Please take the time to learn more about wool.
Robert-Careful now. Fiber fanatics can be just that-fanatical.
Robert-Did you hear about the Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me host? He complained about wool being itchy on his show and there was such drama.
