I’ve had a tough week. Most distressing was that Prana had a fall. At first we thought a rattlesnake bit him. Turns out he fell and got a kitty concussion. How did he fall off the roof? We suspect he was going after a bird but I guess we’ll never know.
We were prepping the car for a town day when Thebes found him on the ground meowing weakly. I held him in my arms and Thebes drove to the vet. Thank the gods we were still home. He was barely moving and I feared he’d die in my arms.
We took him to Taos Vet because they have emergency service. The vet gave him steroids and suggested a head injury. He stayed at the vet during the week.
Thankfully Prana’s home now. The vet gave him a good diagnosis. For now we have to keep him confined to the house. He’s already woken us up with he protest meows. I take it as a very good sign that he’s already bitching. He still has sign of a head injury. His back legs are a little wobbly and his head still tilts a bit. But he’s back and I can give him love and tuna.
How’s the kitty? Mine got lost for a few days–I was afraid the neighborhood evil dogs had eaten her. Turned out she’d been in a cat fight and had been hiding. She came home and ate and drank like she was starving, and was dirty and had a claw mark on her nose! She is staying strictly indoors from now on!
I’m so sorry to hear about Prana, but glad he’s doing better. We had to have one of our beloved kitties put to sleep this week. It’s always so hard, even when you know it’s coming. Take care, M.
Emily-He’s doing a lot better although he’s not ready to go outside yet. He has more energy and is less wobbly. It’s a tough dilemma whether to let them be inside or outside cats. Prana is naturally an outside cat and gets depressed if he’s stuck inside too long. We’ve had to lock up his cat door but he snuck out the front door once already!
Martie-Sorry to hear about your kitty. It’s always hard to lose a pet, they bring such love and joy to our lives.
