Inches of purple and a pig

Samus

I had fallen into a light knitting funk and hadn’t worked much on Samus. Now that it’s nearing the end of the month I’ve kicked it back into gear. On Jan. 1st I started Samus and I want to finish it before February is finished. I’ve been working on it today and have about 3 inches before starting to shape the armholes.

Hotel pig

Thebes and I stayed at a hotel in Santa Fe and this towel pig was there to greet us as we entered our room. Kind of odd but kind of cute at the same time.

Purple Progress

Samus sweater

I’m now working on the body of Samus. To pick up stitches along the cable edge I added stitch markers every 12 stitches. For the body I’m keeping the markers in to easily count up stitches and make sure I still have 192.

The new needles are part of my birthday gift from Abbey. She got me a large set of circular needles in multiple sizes and multiple cable lengths. I’m going to sew up a needle case for them.

Freedom skirt

I’ve done a little work on the Freedom Skirt. The stockinette section is almost over and soon I need to decide which lace pattern to knit. I could go with the simple one I wrote for the pattern but I want a challenge. Something airy that shows an overall pattern to the lace.

Samus cable

Samus cable

I finished the bottom cable for Samus. This is a fun cable to knit. Now it’s onto the main body and relaxing stockinette. Mmm.

Sieben in the snow

Sieben is now a little over six months old. And wow has he grown! The picture above was taken at the end of December. And he’s seems to have gotten bigger since.

Here’s a neat pic of his paw print:

Bday gifts

Book of Yarn

Thebes got me the Knitter’s Book of Yarn for my birthday. This book is amazing! I feel like I’m learning so much from this book. It will definitely make me a better knitter. This quickly has become one of my favorite reads.

Abbey socks

Abbey got me Solstice and bday gifts. She knit me some socks which I’m wearing right now. They’re soft and warm.

Rosewood needles and stitch markers

She gave me rosewood needles that I’m using to knit Samus. They feel great to knit with. She also got me lovely stitch markers and stich marker holders. I used the stitch markers while finishing Thebes Knucks.

Yay for presents!

Samus, Prana and a wedding

Samus sweater

On New Year’s Day I cast on for the Samus Sweater. I’m on row 16 of the first repeat.

I had to redo my cable chart. I had drawn the chart out in pencil which smeared. I figured the more I used the chart the worse the smears would get. So I redid it using pen and colored pencils which is much better.

The bottom cable is done all at once. This is a great design feature. With Arwen I knit the a row of cable along with a long row of stockinette. By the time I got back to the cable I had to reorientate myself with the chart. With Samus I can just get into the cable zone.

Prana hung out outside and checked out the snow. On the whole he’s still impersonating an inside cat.

Abbey got married to her honey on Winter Solstice. And Thebes married them! It was a beautiful ceremony and I got to be maid of honor. Here’s a pic of the happy couple:

Thebes’ Knucks

Thebes' Knucks

Yesterday I finished Thebes’ knucks. They fit him well though the pinkies are a little long. The pinkies on my knucks are a little long too.

Thebes' Knucks

They’re 100% wool and are warmer than mine. I remembered to switch down a needle size for the ribbed cuffs and it makes such a difference. I’m tempted to make myself another pair.

Thebes' Knucks

I really like how the colors pooled.

At the grocery store yesterday we found a new chocolate bar, the Twilight Delight:

Since it not only had my name but was also dark chocolate, I had to try one. It’s pretty tasty.
